Two styles of music are traditionally used in Eastern Orthodox services. Byzantine, Greek influence, in unison like a chant with low ‘ison’ hum or drone. Four part SATB, Russian influence.
In some traditions just before the Little Entrance (Third Antiphon) the Beatitudes are sung by the choir. The Beatitudes are simple to learn and one of the most beautiful and inspiring passages in the Gospel.
